And so far though New variant, Omigron, Mild symptoms and hospitalization and mortality rates seem to be low, with many countries around the world making mistakes on the side of warning and withdrawing plans to sound in the New Year.
With the cancellation of fireworks at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, the Big Ben in London and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, there will be no more traditional scenes above most of the world’s landmarks.
A notable exception is Australia, the first country to cross its Omigron wave. Here, the traditionally spectacular fireworks eruption over Sydney Harbor continued despite the eruption.
“What people want to do tomorrow night is to enjoy the evening,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison told a news conference on Thursday.
Dominic Barrott of New South Wales, which includes Sydney, said this week that people should “go out and enjoy the New Year,” with more than 20,000 cases being reported daily on Friday.

The permitting attitude of the Australian authorities last year was quite different from what Sydney residents were allowed to enter the Central Business District when they were warned against hugging and kissing at midnight.

Govt Fear has yet to cancel fireworks shows across the country, but a midnight light show took place in Auckland. Restrictions were recently lifted on the country’s largest city, which had been locked for 107 days after the delta erupted in August.
Eleanor Rawson said on the phone from the Moss Bar in Auckland, “It’s very positive, because we’re in Lockdown,” Eleanor Rosen called New Year’s ET at 6am with his friends. “This is the first time we’ve been out together, so it’s very nice.”
Rosen said he hopes to lead a “semi-normal life” by 2022, and that “people will find a sense of balance and a sense of happiness for themselves.”
