Five hard courts have been constructed over the last four and a half years by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Sports.
This was disclosed by Minister Patrick Simmons during a public meeting of the National Democratic Congress who said that the initiative to create more facilities for athletes was done under the leadership of Prime Minister Tillman Thomas.
Simmons said athletes now have the opportunity to go to a playing field and practice at any time with lights and not having to worry about the conditions of the facility.
Simmons also said the government was instrumental in creating the first national sports policy.
“That was best times for sports in this country,” he said.
