This year marks the 5th consecutive year that Republic Bank has placed its support behind the staging of the Carriacou Maroon & String Band Festival.
With the launch of the festival on March 29th, promotions and planning have now moved into high gear in the lead up to the events carded for April 26-28.
The funds from Republic Bank were handed over by Ryan McFarlane of the Carriacou Branch to Maroon Festival chairperson, Thereia Lendore.
Commenting on the Bank’s participation, General Manager – Operations, Clifford Bailey noted, “Republic Bank is proud to support this unique and culturally rich festival, which reinforces the promotion and maintenance of Carricaou’s deep cultural heritage.”
Republic Bank recognises the significance the Maroon heritage plays in the Carriacou culture.
From the pouring of libations at the opening of the festival in Belair Park, to the community preparation and sharing of Maroon “smoked” foods, the beating of the big drum, to the regional entertainment from Grenada, Union Island and Trinidad & Tobago, the Carriacou Maroon & String Festival promises visitors an experience of a lifetime, taking them through the generations of their unique cultural heritage which continues to survive in Carriacou.
Republic Bank joins in commending the many volunteers for their selfless commitment year after year to ensure the successful staging of the Carriacou Maroon & String Bank Festival.
