Athletic coach accused of indecent behavior

Another Athletic Coach is to be hauled before a Magistrate’s Court on a sexual related matter after finding himself on the wrong side of the law.

Brendan Joseph, a resident of Gouyave Estate, St. John was arrested last Friday and hit with the charge of indecent behaviour.

Police took Joseph into custody after receiving a report at the Gouyave Police Station that he had exposed himself to an 11-year-old female student.

The accused will make his first court appearance at the Gouyave Magistrate’s Court on October 30.




Two weeks ago, five persons including a school teacher and an athletic coach were charged by police in connection with a series of sexual related matters involving a 14-year-old student.

A charge of sexual assault was laid on Nicholas Benjamin, a school teacher from H.A. Blaize Street, St. George.

Vincennes, St. David resident, Lee Cuffie, who is a Coach at a popular secondary school on the island, was also charged with Indecent Assault and Sexual Assault.

Hope, St. Andrew resident, Alfred Bishop, Grand Bacolet, St. Andrew resident, Arnold Brathwaite and Grand Anse resident, Roger Louison have all been charged with having Sexual Intercourse with a female above 13 and under 16.

The five are currently on bail for the offences and are due back in court in December.

The date set for Louison, Bishop and Brathwaite is December 7, Cuffie on December 10 and Benjamin on December 17.
