A large crowd flocked the court compound to get a glimpse of Francis, who was slapped with the indictable charge, following the fatal incident, which occurred during the wee hours of last week Saturday morning at their home in Mt. Horne, St. Andrew, which led to his brother’s death.

The murder accused appeared unrepresented before the sitting Magistrate, Her Honour Nevlyn John, who remanded him to the Richmond Hill Prison until April 23.

Information reaching THE NEW TODAY is that the brothers were engaged in a verbal argument over a piece of clothing belonging to the murder accused, who wanted to use it to attend the annual “Good Friday sporting event” in the small village.

According to an informed source, Francis was unable to wear the clothing because his now deceased brother had used it and had to wear something else in its place.

The source said, he was highly intoxicated when he returned home from the village sporting event that dreadful morning, where he met his now deceased brother asleep on the floor and proceeded to wake him up with an aggressive argument over the clothing.

As the argument ensued, the older brother slapped Francis in the face because he felt that he was being very disrespectful to their mother who was sleeping in another room.

The altercation ended up in the kitchen, where Francis reportedly drew a knife and fatally stabbed his older brother in his lower abdomen.

THE NEW TODAY understands that the brothers are close relatives of newly elected Member of Parliament for St. Andrew North-west, Social Development Minister, Delma Thomas.

There are unconfirmed reports that a vehicle owned by the minister was driven by her son to take the injured family member to the nearby Princes Alice Hospital at Mirabeau.

Steven is the second brother in that family to lose his life to violence.

On October 8, 2011, Dellon Jeffery, their older brother, who resided at La Digue, St. Andrew, died at the age of 27, after receiving a chop to his neck at the hands of Sherwin Shane Buckmire, who was 20 years old at the time and is currently serving a 15 -year sentence at the Richmond Hill Prison.
