The Grenada Union of Teachers Co-operative Credit Union (GUTCCU) has joined the Connex family offering Automated Teller Machine (ATM) service at three strategic locations – Victoria, St. Mark, the GUTCCU Office on Grenville Street, St. George’s and at the Kirani James Boulevard.
The most recent ATM machine was set up at the Boulevard, which is located strategically between the town of St. George and the commercial hub of Grand Anse.
It was launched last Friday at a ceremony in which General Manager of GUTCCU, Retesha Boyd said that the move to set up the ATM came as a direct result of requests from the membership of the Credit Union.
“You have an ATM right here at the GCNA Complex to access your funds. This is a momentous occasion for the credit union and its membership. It’s been a long time coming and much effort has been placed to make this a reality through a rigorous process with a dedicated project team”, she said.
“…The machine can be used by anyone who has a debit or credit card with the logos Connex, Visa, or Mastercard…you don’t have to be a member to use the ATM and we encourage you to use it often but even though you don’t have to be a member, we want you to become members of the GUT Credit Union so you could experience all the benefits of membership”, she added.
The installation of the ATM service came about with the help of the Grenada Co-operative Bank Limited (GCBL) whose Executive Manager of Operations and Administration, Floyd Dowden was on hand to offer congratulations.
Dowden said: “Today is a very special occasion … since it represents a win-win position for all stakeholders in this endeavour. It’s a true representation of what cooperation can do in ensuring the sustainability of financial system in our country as well as enhancing the product offerings and service delivery, not just the GUT Credit Union numbers but by extension any person who holds a Visa, Mastercard or Connex branded card.
“We extend our sincere congratulations on your achievement today and we stand ready to collaborate with you on future endeavours like this”, he added.
Vice-President of GUTCCU, Joslyn La Touche stated that the ATM will help to simplify banking for members.
“The credit union’s vision is to be the financial institution of choice for members. We are committed to living our mission: To provide the best possible service to members while meeting their primary financial needs as measured by achieving the highest standard in benefits and membership satisfaction”, she told the ceremony.
“This ATM here will make life less complicated…the use of the debit card will eliminate members having to wait in long lines at the Credit Union as well as having to carry large amounts of cash which itself is a security risk and it can be used in stores and supermarkets”, she said.
