It was an evening of great fellowship, interaction and recognition of those who laid the foundation for the formation of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) which has just celebrated its 30th anniversary as a major political party on the island.
The party held an event at Spice Basket, Beaulieu, St George to bring together Executive members, Candidates, Supporters and Friends to a gala dinner and dance.
Party leader, former Finance Minister, Senator Nazim Burke was high in praise for those who made the sacrifice and saw the vision to establish the Congress party.
“We are extremely grateful for the contributions they have made”, he told the audience.
Sen. Burke, who was unanimously re-elected as party leader at the October 25th convention, said the NDC has done a lot for the social, economic and academic development of Grenada and will continue to provide strong leadership in politics and other areas of national development in the years ahead.
Past leaders of the party were recognised for their contributions including late Prime Ministers Sir Nicholas Braithwaite and George Ignatius Brizan.
Former Prime Minister Tillman Thomas was present to receive his recognition of Appreciation award from the party.
A long time stalwart and champion for the people of St. Andrew North West, Alleyne Walker was also recognized for his contribution.
The evening was also punctuated with auctions of several items which provided great crowd participation and humour.
