Police have detained one man so far for questioning in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 17-year old female.
Well-placed sources told THE NEW TODAY that the incident happened sometime on Monday night at a house in Green Street, St. George’s.
A source who did not wish to be identified said that the police are looking for two others to assist them in their investigation.
He said the information gathered so far is that the victim was lured into the house by one of the suspects that she was very familiar with.
“He gave her something to drink and it was drugged. She was knocked out and it is alleged that she was interfered with sexually by the men”, he added.
According to the source, the victim who is from the Mt. Rush area is currently hospitalised and was due to meet with a police investigator on Wednesday to make a statement on her ordeal.
He said the police moved in to make an initial arrest based on a complaint lodged with them by the parent of the victim.
THE NEW TODAY understands that the police will question the victim to ascertain that the sex was not consensual before pressing charges in the matter.
Grenada has the highest incidents of sexual abuse in the Eastern Caribbean.
