April is widely regarded as one of the holiest months in the calendar year but so far it has turned out to be the most tragic for untimely deaths in the Spice Isle.
No less than three persons have met their deaths in trying circumstances.
The community of Mt. Tranquil in St. David was stunned Monday afternoon over the death of a young woman who fell to her death from a bicycle.
28-year old Danel Francis of Mardi Gras, St. George was exercising on her bicycle when she reportedly lost control and stumbled over a precipice.
A police source told this newspaper that the bicycle did not have any brakes on it.
Her face was severely damaged as she fell face down.
The deceased, a former employee at a well-known supermarket, left behind three children of school age.
The Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) is also investigating a possible arson/suicide that occurred on Saturday in St. Patrick.
Firefighters rushed to the area of Mt. Rich to respond to a call made about a house on fire and upon putting out the blaze discovered the body of a man in the rubbles.
The individual was identified as Mentra Bernard, the resident of the burnt-out house and believed to be in his early sixties.
THE NEW TODAY understands that Bernard was at the centre of a domestic problem involving his sisters over the house.
A source told this newspaper that the matter went to court and after the hearing judgment was handed down the day before the fire against Bernard.
The deceased was given time to vacate the property and to hand over the premises.
It is alleged that the following day after the court case Bernard set the house on fire and drank a poisonous substance.
Police investigations are still continuing to ascertain whether it was actually a suicide.
