The spotlight is once again on speaking out against this societal scourge plaguing our communities – child abuse.
As the Grenada National Coalition on the Rights of the Child (GNCRC) observes April as child abuse awareness and prevention month, we do so, driven by our commitment to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) which calls for us to do ‘what is in the best interest of the child’.
Child abuse refers to any harm – physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, psychologically or otherwise; that negatively impact children.
As the theme says “Child Abuse Hurts, Stop it Now!”
GNCRC is committed to protecting the ‘best interest’ and ‘well-being’ of all children.
GNCRC, as an advocacy organisation, we will continue to influence the policies that promote and protect the rights of children. The issue of child abuse needs urgent attention.
Child abuse is a scourge on society we are not prepared to accept.
Let each of us play our individual and collective roles to fight this menace.
Children are valuable to any society and we need to protect them.
Children are being subjected to abuses in the homes, the schools and in the penal system. We call for comprehensive legal and legislative protection for our children.
GNCRC calls on all citizens to join us in the fight to protect and promote the rights and responsibilities of all children. Partner with us to ensure that all our children are provided with care, understanding, love, security and a life free from all forms of abuses.
As we seek to create greater awareness during this month, we invite you, the public, to participate in our activities.
