Settlement of salary negotiations

The PWU/TAWU Joint Negotiating Team wishes to inform all members and the general public that following a mass meeting held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at the PWU Headquarters the membership overwhelming agreed to the following:

(1). $1000.00 to be paid by the 31st March, 2017 on the understanding that more will be paid after discussions with the parties in July 2017, provided the fiscal space allows.

(2). Salary increases of 3% for 2017, 3% for 2018 and 4% for 2019 (cumulative).

The above will form the basis for the continuation and conclusion of the ongoing negotiations for salaries and wages for the period 2013 to 2016.

The Team has since dispatched a letter to the Minister for Labour Honourable Oliver Joseph.

The PWU/TAWU brings to the attention of all that this was arrived at after months of trying to get the Government to commit in writing, to continue discussions following the IMF’s sixth review of the SAP and their assessments which should be delivered sometime in June 2017.

Resulting from the above agreement, the Unions have ceased all industrial actions and called upon their members to resume normal work.

The PWU/TAWU Joint Negotiating Team wishes to applaud and recognise the entire membership for the resolute and trustworthy support.

The Team also thank the general public for the support and understanding shown.
