The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a possible hit and run incident in which one man died.
Dead is 55-year-old Bernard Antoine of Petite Bacaye, St. David who was allegedly struck and killed by a vehicle in Beaton, St. David, in the early hours of last Friday morning.
Antoine is described in his village as someone who made a living by diving and holding crabs.
THE NEW TODAY newspaper understands that the police have detained one individual for questioning in connection with the incident.
The lawmen are said to be treating the case as a hit and run.
Meanwhile, police also suspect foul play in discovery of a body that found early Sunday morning by villagers in the St. John’s River in River Road, St. George.
The deceased has been identified as 60-year-old George Thomas A.K.A Sprangle of River Road.
An autopsy performed on Monday indicated that Thomas died as a result of asphyxia, drowning and head trauma.
