The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Royal Grenada Police Station (RGPF) is still searching for a man who stole a vehicle and sped away with it with a child inside.
The vehicle, a blue Suzuki Escudo with registration number PAF543 was parked along Melville Street in St. George’s on Friday night at around 9.15 p.m when the incident occurred.
THE NEW TODAY understands that the driver of the vehicle, George Collins left his five-year old son asleep in the vehicle that was parked in front of S. Kumar Variety Store.
The driver reportedly left the vehicle with the key in the ignition to go into one of the buildings to get something.
When he returned, the vehicle was not seen and he immediately alerted he police.
The vehicle was found later in the night at Mt. Parnassus, St. George as the driver had apparently lost control and it ran off the road.
Information reaching THE NEW TODAY is that a man who was attending church discovered the vehicle and took the child from it.
The robber/kidnapper reportedly ran from the scene but the child was found safe and unharmed.
A few weeks ago, the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) launched a massive manhunt for two individuals suspected of kidnapping some persons in a vehicle in the St. John’s area at gunpoint.
The accused – Timothy Williams of Darbeau and Irvin Thomas of Lowther’s Lane were apprehended and charged by police with robbery with violence, housebreaking, stealing, kidnapping and rape.
