THE NEW TODAY has been reliably informed that bugs were discovered last week Wednesday on the Fifth Floor of the Ministerial Complex in the Botanical Gardens in Tanteen, St. George’s.
According to a well-placed source, the workers were told not to report to work in order for a health team to engage in immediate fumigation of the place.
The 5th floor is occupied by the Department of Personnel Management that is headed by Anna Brizan.
The source said the presence of the bugs was not reported to the Public Workers Union (PWU) by the workers on the 5th Floor as immediate action was taken by government to deal with the situation.
“We were aware of it but the workers did not tell us anything because it (the bugs on the premises) was dealt with right away”, said one PWU official.
This newspaper was told that the bug seen at the Ministerial Complex was described as the “American-type”.
Earlier in the year, Health Minister Nickolas Steele confirmed the presence of bed bugs at the St. George’s General Hospital.
