The Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) is mourning the loss of 47 year old Corporal Andrew Frederick of La Taste, St Patrick who lost his life on Saturday.
THE NEW TODAY understands that the police officer was struck by a vehicle after he came out of a bus in the area of La Fortune, St Patrick.
The accident took place in close proximity to the Sauteurs Fire Station, the department to which Cpl. Andrew was attached.
Information reaching this newspaper said the driver of the vehicle that hit the deceased indicated that he did not notice the fire officer getting off the bus.
There are unconfirmed reports that Cpl. Andrew was attempting to cross from the back of the bus to get to the other side of the road when he was hit by the moving vehicle.
A release from the Community Relations Department of the RGPF on Monday said: “Police are investigating a fatal road accident which occurred in St. Patrick at the weekend, Dead is Andrew Frederick, 47 years old, Police Officer of La Taste, St. Patrick.
“Frederick was pronounced dead on arrival at the General Hospital after being hit by a vehicle on Saturday 2nd April, 2016.”
