A St. George’s Magistrate Court was, yesterday (March 31st) to decide on the fate of two St. Lucians who are locked up in a Grenada jail for drug possession.
Jointly charged with possession and trafficking in a controlled drug are Irvin Changoo, and Erasmus Joseph.
Members of the Drug Squad of the Royal Grenada Police Force swooped down on an apartment last week Wednesday at Fort Jeudy, St. George’s in which both non-nationals were residing.
The raid reportedly netted almost two kilos of cocaine valued at $115,500.00.
An informed source told THE NEW TODAY newspaper that Changoo is suspected to be the mastermind behind the drugs.
The source who spoke on condition of not being identified said Joseph reportedly came into the apartment and met his fellow countryman who already had the drugs in his possession.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession.
This newspaper was also told that Interpol might have some interest in both Changoo and Joseph.
The two suspects are being represented by Attorney-at-law Peter David.
