A young man from St. Andrew’s who took up residence at Cherry Hill, St. George’s to live with his female companion and her girl child has been slapped with a number of sexual-related charges.
Kelon Powlit, 27, is accused of having sexual intercourse with the eight-year old child sometime during the month of February.
Police have laid four counts of having sex with a minor, and two counts of sexual assault on Powlit who is originally from Simon, St. Andrew’s.
The accused appeared at the St. George’s No. 2 Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and was placed on bail in the sum of $10,000 with two sureties.
Magistrate Francine Foster who granted Powlit bail, ordered that he surrender all travel documents and that he reports to the Central Police Station during specified days and hours.
The Magistrate also ordered that Powlit who is being represented by Attorney-at-law, Peter David to stay away from the village of Cherry Hill which is in the Constituency of St. George’s North West, and to not have any contact with the complainant and her relatives.
