That was the declaration of Elimus “Inspector” Gilbert who topped the points standing in the semi-finals of the National Soca Monarch Competition with his track entitled “Stop and Search” on 416 points.

Scores of music lovers turned out to support their favorite artistes during the Semifinals of the Power Soca Monarch competition held Friday night at the Grenville Bus Terminus in St. Andrew.

Performing in position number 12, the veteran soca artist from St. Patrick, who also topped the Groovy preliminaries earlier this month, secured a comfortable 13-point lead ahead of his closest rival Javis Cuffie who goes by the stage name, “Muddy.”

Muddy, who hails from St. David, is ecstatic that he is finally getting a chance to make his debut on the big stage this year. He copped the 2nd spot with his rendition “Cranial disease” finishing on 403 points.

Another St. David’s resident Keishon ‘Squeeze Head’ placed 3rd with his rendition “Call the police.” Squeeze Head walked away with the second place prize last year with his hit tune, “Turbo charge.”

St. Patrick resident, Jalon “Boyzie” Olive, who won the title in 2013 and topped this year’s preliminary event ended up in the 4th position with his rendition “Batallions” on 398 points.

Another St. Patrick artiste, Shem ‘Terror kid’ Bernard, who won the title in 2011 placed 5th with his song “We that start it” on 386 points.

For the first time Damion ‘Pappy Boi’ La Pompe, will get a chance to perform on the big stage. The St. Patrick resident (385 points) placed 6th with his rendition “Resurrection”.

Dinga Henry & Myclon Williams Little Natty and Thunder with their rendition “Wuss mass” on 382 points came home 7th.

Although, the duo from St. David never won the crown, they have been making it to the big stage ever since their debut in 2011.

Hailing from the sister isle of Carriacou, Finber ‘Short Pree’ Andrew placed 8th with his tune “Bundle ah Wood” on 374 points.

For the first time Shem Hastick & Sheldon George, a duo known as “Loose Canon” would be competing on the big stage with their rendition “Sick Jab”.

They scored 361 points tying in 9th place with 2005 Soca Monarch Dave “Boogie B” Peters, who sang a song called “Turn up the heat” and three time Soca King Elvyn “Zingo” Alexander with his rendition “Jab Jab Banana”.

The 2010 Soca Monarch, Kelvin “Otis” Celestine copped the 12th place with his rendition “Shake it down” on 351 points.

The other finalists are Jermaine “Superstar” Simon in 13th place with a song entitled “Amazing Fetters” on 349 points, Rowan “Original Rythm Mix” Alexander in 14th place with his rendition “More Jab” on 348 points and Kennedy “Kennedy Mapp” Mapp in position 15 with his tune “We want More” on 348 points.

Sherwin “Mr Walkie” Paul is the Stand By in the event. He scored 343 with his renditon “My Area.”

Come Bacchanal Friday night August 7th the chosen 15 will come up against the reigning Soca Kings Kellon and Kelson Ogiste “Luni Spark” and “Electrify,” who are looking to retain the crown for the fourth time this year.
