The Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) has confirmed that about 7. 00 a.m on Wednesday it responded to a call on Woolwich Road, St. George’s which revealed a fetus discarded in a bin.
Information is still sketchy as to how the fetus got there and who might be responsible.
A police official told THE NEW TODAY newspaper that the lawmen are investigating the matter to find out who might be responsible and why such an act was committed.
The official said that depending on the circumstances of the situation, it was possible that someone could be charged but a lot of issues must first have to be considered.
One of the issues was whether the act was due to a miscarriage, abortion or still born.
According to the police official, this is not the first time that something of this nature has occurred on the island.
About 10 years ago, a child who was apparently still alive was found buried in an area close to the airport on the sister isle Carriacou.
