The Grenada Industrial Development Corporation has welcomed another Business Process Outsourcing operation at its Frequente Industrial Park in St George.
Unique Vacations Limited, the state-of-the-art marketing centre for Sandals Resorts International, went live on April 2.
The centre employs 23 Grenadian Marketing Specialists, with an additional 35 persons currently in intensive training.
This will bring the number of Grenadian Marketing Specialists to 58 by June 1, 2015.
The centre will be responsible for assisting clients with booking their vacation packages via voice or e-chat.
The centre was built over a seven week period at a cost of EC$750,000. It is housed in a 7,200 square feet facility.
GIDC’s Vice President for Investor Facilitation, Whyme Cox attributes the success of this project to the result of close collaboration between Unique Vacations and the state-run body.
“We could not have achieved this within the required timeframe without the inputs of the contractors and their workmen, so we would like to say thanks to La Touche Interior Designs & Construction, Cooling Tech Grenada Limited, and Eco Construction,” Cox said.
As GIDC celebrates it 30 years of existence, the expansion of Business Process Outsourcing type operations in Grenada falls within the ambit of a targeted approach to attract ICT based investments into the country creating employment for Grenadians.
As a result of GIDC’s efforts, approximately 400 jobs were added to Grenada’s economy from April 2014 to present.
