A teacher at Presentation Brothers College (PBC), Jennifer Cooper, has been selected as the latest Eastern Caribbean Fellow of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
Cooper will participate in a program ‘Education for the Exceptional Child’, a project designed for teachers of the Western Hemisphere.
The program, which commenced April 6, will include visits to Washington, DC; Boston, Massachusetts; Des Moines, Iowa; Jackson, Mississippi and New Orleans, Louisiana where, together with colleagues from throughout the Eastern Caribbean region and beyond, she will meet with local organisations to discuss and exchange best practices for curriculum design in order to effectively support developing exceptional children at all stages of their education.
The program will explore practical examples of methods, techniques and individualised instruction material that have had positive results in retaining the interest of and achieving performance breakthroughs for exceptional children.
IVLP is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program which brings together emerging leaders in their respective professions to learn how U.S. experts in these profession operate, and to share best practices with other program fellows from the region and around the globe.
