This is the sixth year running that media practitioners have been assured of Digicel’s commitment and support for their work in informing the people of Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique as well as the Diaspora.

During the launch on Monday, MWAG’s President Shere Ann Noel encouraged members to make every effort to submit their entries ahead of the deadline which is October 31.

In his remarks at the ceremony, Digicel Marketing Manager, Kirk Seetahal said that his company will continue to support the annual media award event because of the high prominence it attaches to the media in Grenada and to inspire opportunities where media personnel are rewarded for their hard work.

The Anthony “Jericho” Greenidge Award will again be awarded for the fourth consecutive year by Digicel to a young aspiring practicing media professional within the field of press, radio, television and internet who has demonstrated self-growth (investment in self growth) and development throughout the last year.

Seetahal said this award is very special to Digicel, “we initiated it four years as it gives a reminder to the legacy left behind by “Jericho” and to keep his spirit alive because of his sterling contribution to the growth of the local media”.

The lucky recipient would receive a state of the art Smart Phone and $1000.00 cash as well as a trophy.

This is the 8th year since its inception that CARIMAC is adjudicating the Awards submissions and MWAG’s President Shere Ann Noel says the Media Workers Association of Grenada continues to be appreciative and satisfied with the Institute’s continued support of the program.

During the ceremony, two longstanding media practitioners are scheduled to be recognized for their outstanding contribution towards the media in Grenada.
