World Milk Day is observed every year on June 1st as an initiative of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) as it provides the opportunity to focus attention on milk and activities of the milk industry.
For the first time local agent for Dutch Lady Milk, Jonas Browne & Hubbard (G’da) Limited teamed up on June 12 with Dutch Lady Milk producer, Friesland Campina to observe World Milk Day at the National Stadium.
Over 1,000 primary school students together with their teachers and other stakeholders were in attendance including Ruth Rouse, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Marcia Cameron, Executive Secretary of the Grenada Food and Nutrition Council and Allan Bierzynski, Managing Director of Hubbard’s who delivered addresses to the attendees.
At the end of the ceremony, students were served a glass of Dutch Lady Milk and cookies.
They were thrilled by the “Dutch Lady” Fun Farm where they had an opportunity to milk the “cows” and bounce around in the “Dutch Lady” bouncing castle which were highlights of the observance of World Milk Day.
