A new religious ministry officially opened its doors in Grenada last week Saturday.

The Grenada Boys Secondary School was the venue for the launching of the country’s newest religious denomination – Grenada Prophetic Missions International.

The new group actually opened its doors in Grenada one year ago in Harford Village in St Andrew, specifically targeting young people throughout the country.

The church headquartered in Trinidad and Tobago is said to be one with a difference, tailored to mesh with 20th Century practices and beliefs.

More than 40 members of the faith throughout the region including the church band attended the ceremony.

Apostle and Prophet of the Mission is Dr Leslie Rodgers.

Demonstrating beauty is a norm of the Prophetic Missions and the Church recently held its Second Miss Prophetic Missions International Annual Pageant in which Grenadian beauty Carrian Parris Nancoo won the competition.

20 year old Nancoo from Birchgrove St Andrew told The New Today that she was pleasantly surprised when she was announced the winner and she recalled shedding tears of joy.

She told this newspaper that while she attended the event with the intention of winning she was certain that her rival Grenadian competitor, Donnisha Jeremiah, would take the crown home.

The competition featured three categories, Introduction in which she kicked off with a song, “Grenada Isle of Spice”, Casual Wear, which included a talent display, and the Formal wear segment.

Contestants were also asked one question.

According to Nancoo, during her reign as winner of the competition, she committed to some involvement in the ministry, assisting in the care of animals, the elderly and the environment as well as the planning of events and participating in fundraising activities.
