One school in Carriacou is receiving support for its school’s feeding program.
The Mt. Pleasant and Grand-Bay USA INC, a New York-based community organisation which is comprised mainly of persons who came from the eastern village of Mt. Pleasant; continues to make a yearly contribution to the Mt. Pleasant Government School for the programme.
Outgoing President Viola Browne recently presented a cheque to Acting Principal Sarahlyn Quashie.
Browne said it is one of three programmes the organisation supports on the island; and also a way of showing their support towards educational development.
Principal Quashie expressed appreciation on behalf of the school.
The School Feeding Program, administered by the Ministry of Education, is aimed at enabling all primary and selected pre-primary and secondary schools to give improved services through the provision of a nutritionally adequate meal to indigent children from low-income families, single parent household and distant homes.
