The main players of the Home for the Holidays promotion

For the second consecutive year two Grenadian families will get the opportunity to reunite with a relative living outside of the State whom they have not seen for a long time.

The “Home For The Holidays 2013 Promotion” was launched last week Wednesday at the Foodland Supermarket on the Kirani James Boulevard in St. George’s with the intention of bringing Christmas cheers to family members and their loved ones.

The promotion which runs up until December 16 will allow two people living abroad to spend the holidays with their families at no cost to either side.

Mahera Strachan, the Marketing Officer of Foodland Supermarket who chaired the ceremony, said the company’s goal is to make Grenadians happier through various promotions, efforts and initiatives.

Strachan said the “Home For The Holiday Promotion marries with Foodland’s philosophy of being the “Family’s favourite foodstore.”

The Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN), Caribbean Airlines and Digicel have joined with Foodland Supermarket to make the promotion a success.

Sales and Marketing Supervisor at GBN, Janelle Mc Donald-St. Bernard outlined the rules of the promotion.

Participants can enter the competition by either submitting their names, address and telephone number, and also the name, address and telephone number of the relative they want to bring home along with a Foodland receipt of a minimum value of $25.00, or through a letter-writing option.

The letter-writing option affords the customer to write a script no more than ten lines outlining the reasons for wanting to bring home that relative.

Both parties’ names, addresses and telephone numbers will also have to be included along with the Foodland receipt.

The entries can be dropped off at Foodland Supermarket outlets on the Kirami James Boulevard and Market Square, St. George’s. and at Digicel Store on Melville Street.

The promotion contains a surprise factor.

The local family will not be aware if their entry has been chosen when the draw takes place on December 17.

According to Mc Donald-St. Bernard only the relatives overseas will know that they will be spending the Christmas holidays with their Grenadian family.

She is advising everyone who will be participating in the promotion to start early preparations in anticipation of having a visit from their loved ones.

Customer Service Representative of Caribbean Airlines which serves 18 destinations, Nicholas Arnold said they have warmly embraced the opportunity to once again partner in the promotion.

Arnold said it is an opportunity for Caribbean Airlines to showcase “its warmth,” and being able to bring families home for the holidays.

Telecommunication provider, Digicel which is on board for the first time, is providing financial and telecom support.

Marketing Manager, Kirk Seetahal who declined giving details of the financial package, said that for this year Digicel’s theme for Christmas is “Brighten Someone’s Christmas.”

Seetahal said that apart from going out into the communities to brighten someone’s Christmas, the home for the holiday promotion is another avenue for brightening someone’s Christmas.

Last year’s winners Loric Ollivierre of Cherry Hill, and Tisha Smart of Mt. Moritz were given the opportunity to spend their holidays with their own Grenadian families.
