Two families of La Poterie, St. Andrew’s are hurting following the untimely death of a 15-year old allegedly at the hands of another 15-year old of the same village.
Ian Mitchell became the country’s first murder victim of the year when he succumbed to injuries he suffered to the head last week Friday.
Mitchell was allegedly stabbed in the head by another 15-year old whom it is reported was one of his friends.
A reliable source told THE NEW TODAY Newspaper that at about 7:00 p.m. the two youngsters were engaged in an altercation which resulted in Mitchell being injured.
He was rushed to the Princess Alice Hospital at Mirabeau, St. Andrew’s in an unconscious state where he received initial medical attention.
However, he was then transferred to the General Hospital in St. George’s where he succumbed to the injuries the following day of the incident.
A charge of non-capital murder has since been laid on the accused teenager who is unemployed.
The suspect appeared at the Grenville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, and was remanded to custody at the Richmond Hill Prisons.
He is due back in court on February 26.
