The murder toll for the year continues to rise.
A second murder has been recorded within a one-week period, bringing the murder toll to 12 for 2012.
Dead is 54-year old Cuthbert Phillip of Apres Toute, St. David’s.
He died last week Wednesday (October 10) at the St. George’s General Hospital after sustaining injuries to his face during an incident which occurred on October 6.
An autopsy report revealed Cuthbert died as a result of severe brain edema, laceration of the brain with extensive cerebral heamorrhage and trauma to the eyelid with perforation to the left orbita.
However, an original charge of causing harm was laid on 29-year Kelon Phillip of the same village who allegedly had the altercation with the elderly man.
Phillip was brought to court on the original charge on October 8 at the St. David’s Magistrate’s Court.
The 29-year old Phillip is due back in court on November 2 where the charge of murder will be read to him.
