Wesley Singers in Concert

The world renowned Wesley Singers of Barbados will be in Grenada from August 20 for a few days during which they will deliver a scintillating musical performance dubbed the “Wesley Singers in Concert”.

The concert which will take place on Thursday, August 23 will be held at the St. George’s Methodist Church at 6:30 P.M.

The 55 member plus chorale will render a number of pieces including some of the best known and popular Wesley hymns.

The Wesley Singers was formed in Barbados over forty years ago with members drawn from the Methodist congregations throughout the island.

The Director is Walter Forbes who took over from the founding Director, Sydney Harris upon his retirement in 2011.

The Group has produced a number of records including, “Great Hymns of Methodism”,  “The Lord Reigneth”, and “Love Unknown”.

They have also toured several countries and cities including, Antigua, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, England and Wales in the United Kingdom, Toronto and Montreal in Canada, Atlanta and New York in the United States, Tortola and the Virgin Gorda in the BVI and St. Kitts.

The concert is intended to raise funds for the Methodist Church in Grenada.

While here the Choir will also use the opportunity to host a couple of Voice training and Choir workshops for choir members and other persons interested in singing.

These workshops will take place at the St. George’s Methodist Church on Friday 24th August at 5:00 p.m and Saturday 25th August at 3:00 p.m.
