What is a Christian’s Main Work?

A Christian is a follower of Christ.  Hence, a Christian makes a sincere effort to be like Jesus Christ, following his example closely. 1 Peter 2:21.

What was Jesus’ main work? At Luke 4:43, Jesus stated: “I MUST preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.” So clearly Jesus said that he was sent to preach God’s Kingdom; it was a MUST to do so.

His faithful apostles, also preached with him as Luke 8:1 proves.

Some people feel that if they do kind deeds such as helping the poor, clean up the environment, and so forth, that is enough as a Christian.

Helping the poor, and cleaning the environment are certainly good activities. But since Jesus indicated that his followers must preach the gospel of the Kingdom, it is certainly not enough to do kind deeds.

At Matthew 24: 14, Jesus mentioned: “And this gospel of the kingdom SHALL be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”  Therefore, like Jesus Christ, a Christian MUST preach about God’s Kingdom before the end of the world comes.
That is the MAIN work of a Christian as shown in the Holy Scriptures.
