The people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique are adamantly against Peter David becoming the island’s new senator following the death of Senator Jester Emmons.
Senator Emmons had the potential to represent the people of Carriacou in that nation’s Parliament if he had the opportunity to do so. The NNP isn’t a party known to support the independence of its parliamentarians and senators.
Persons who serve in that capacity must tow the party line. Senator Emmons was an individual with the potential and aptitude to work across party line.
Despite being a supporter of the NNP he was never accepted or seen as a fanatical supporter of the party.
Following the defeat of the NNP in 2008, Emmons was appointed senior Sports Officer by the NDC administration. He became Senator in 2013 when the NNP returned to office in his capacity as Parliamentary Secretary. He however never escaped from the shadows of MP ElvinNimrod who dictated policy at the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
It is alleged that the Senator wasn’t very happy with the way he was treated by the minister. Speculations were rife that he was going to be replaced by Senator Stiell or Peter David.
His untimely death has now paved the way for the former General Secretary of the NDC and turncoat politician Peter David to be appointed Senator to represent the people of Carriacou in the Senate.
Peter David has been in political limbo since becoming a card carrying member of the NNP on May 20, 2014. At the time it was the expectations of his supporters that he would join the NNP administration formally. This didn’t materialise since it has been alleged that he received stiff opposition from some circles within the party.
Conspiracy theorists may suggest that, given the mystery and mysticism surrounding the NNP, that Senator Emmons’ life was ‘sacrificed’ in order to make way for Peter David. While this may sound farfetched, it’s not impossible. It is alleged that the NNP operates like a cult and may even have connections to the illuminati, the secret organisation seeking world domination and power.
Peter David should remain on mainland Grenada. The people of Carriacou don’t want to be forced to support someone who is seen as an undesirable. He is persona non grata. It would be an insult to the intelligence of the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique for Peter David to represent them in the Senate.
As Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism in the Tilllman Thomas-led administration, he created havoc for the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique. He selfishly neglected them at the 2012 Maroon festival when he packed his bag and left the island.
Peter David isn’t welcome to serve the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique in the Senate. He should remain as a criminal lawyer for the young offenders who find themselves afoul of the law. That is what he has been doing ever since he engineered the demise of the NDC administration.
The people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique deserve someone of integrity, high moral standing, and credibility, decent and pure to look after their interests. Peter David is too much of a polarising individual and come with too much political and social baggage. The people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique deserve better.
Elvin Nimrod, parliamentary representative for Carriacou and Petite
Martinique, will forever tarnish his legacy if he ‘unleashes’ Peter’the traitor’ David on the decent people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
There are many young decent men and women with the acumen to serve the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique with distinction.
Persons such as Norland Cox, Kindra Maturine-Stewart, Leslie Stewart, former attorney general Rohan Phillip, newly appointed lawyer Ms Gabriel Stephen Samerson, Tevin Andrew and a host of other intelligent young people who can make a positive change on the lives of the young people.
Former Senator George Prime would be a much better choice to serve the people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique. He proved that he knows how to get the job done given his record from 2008-2013.
Given the severe economic challenges facing the nation, NNP must rise above petty politics to move the country forward. The continuation of the political puzzle that was played from 1995-2008 isn’t serving the country well, especially the young and poor people of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
Our young men have resorted to the stealing of people’s animal and the peddling of illegal drugs to make ends meet. Peter David isn’t the answer. The people deserve someone who knows their story and can relate to it. Not a prodigal son and outcast to be imposed on them.
What Carriacou needs now more than ever are politicians who can unite the people. The past decade has seen the people divided in a very dangerous manner along party lines, resulting in an island that has gone backward in all aspects of its development. Peter David will only make the situation worse.
No to Peter David as the next Senator for Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Senator Emmons will turn in his grave if Elvin Nimrod and the NNP ‘unleash ‘ Pedro on his people. MP Nimrod should never endorse Peter David to serve as Senator for Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
Forward Ever! Backward Never! No to Peter David.
