Lawyers express concerns

The Grenada Bar Association through its executive has written to the Honourable Prime Minister Keith C. Mitchell bringing to his attention a number of concerns concerning the appointment of the Honourable Gregory Bowen an engineer by profession, to act in the office of Attorney General in the absence of Attorney General Cajeton Hood on two separate occasions.

These acting appointments were published in two issues of he Government Gazette on September 13th, 2013 and February 28th, 2014.

The main concern of the Bar Association stems from the fact that Section 70 of the Grenada Constitution provides that the Attorney General is the principal legal adviser to the Government of Grenada and of necessity such a person ought to be an Attorney-at-Law, or other, someone with legal professional qualifications.
