Visit of PM Mitchell to CDB

Prime Minister of Grenada and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), Dr. Keith Mitchell has urged the institution to continue playing a role in accelerating the implementation of the development agenda for the Caribbean. “Together, united, we must forge ahead, locking in the gains we have made as a Region; and, building on those gains, accelerate a development agenda to improve the lives of our Caribbean family”, said Dr. Mitchell, in his address to the Bank’s Staff during an official visit to CDB in Barbados. “CDB must continue to play the integral role it … Continue reading

David Allard: The vehicle is mine

A St. Andrew’s man who currently lives at Morne Jaloux is calling on the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) to thoroughly launch an investigation into the stealing of his vehicle. David Allard walked into THE NEW TODAY newspaper on Tuesday morning completely annoyed at RGPF for allegedly giving ownership of his vehicle to the man who allegedly took it away from his house. According to Allard it was sometime in April that he purchased a vehicle through a contact he named as Sherwayne George. He said that George apparently knew the person who was selling the vehicle and he (Allard) … Continue reading

Bachannal in the NNP House

The late Sir Herbert Blaize once said, “What goes around, comes around”. After the 2013 elections, the old guard took their familiar seats and a new crop of ‘wet behind the ears” politicians with deep pockets stumbled into our parliament. A motor car salesman was named as foreign minister but did not last long as he behaved as if the foreign relations of the country was the same as selling KIA motor vehicles. ”Xandra” then found out that there is only one male rat in the NNP house. Pure Grenada became the buzzword as Grenada was no longer deemed Spicy … Continue reading

Surviving the end of the world!!!

The question posed above is very worthy of consideration. Who would not want to survive when this world ends? The world’s end does not mean the end of the Earth. Psalm 37:9, 11 say that those who “wait on the Lord (the meek) shall inherit the earth” and “delight themselves in the abundance of peace.” Jesus agreed with these Scriptures when he said at Matthew 5:5, “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.” Also, Ecclesiastes 1:4 tells us that “the earth abideth FOREVER,” in contrast to a generation that does not last forever. What will the end … Continue reading

Financial Sense…Sudden Wealth Syndrome – Do You Want It?

You wake up one morning and you are suddenly wealthy beyond your wildest dreams – you’ve won the lottery or come into an inheritance. How do you deal with such an occurrence? I remember a friend telling me that when his kids graduated, the only problem he wanted to have was which colour car he should buy them. I think that’s a fantastic position to be in and I am sure that in some way or the other, we all want to be in a similar position, maybe not necessarily to buy them a car, but to know that we … Continue reading

A power hungry Prime Minister in the Gardens

By Helen Grenade Grenada’s New National Party (NNP) is about to burst, just like a balloon, with a thin wall in many spots, the balloon will burst as soon as the weakest spot fails to hold pressure. Since word of Terry Forrester distancing himself from Keith C. Mitchell and his NNP government broke, Mitchell unloaded on his former public relations officer (PRO), who has been with him forever, confirming reports that the former PRO is no longer associated with his campaign, and saying, “As you can imagine, I’m sorry to see that he has fallen short.” No, Mr Mitchell, you … Continue reading

As directed by the Heavenly Father:

Pleasant greetings to our fellow Grenadian brothers and sisters at home and abroad. I am here conveying four mesages from many messages revealed in dreams from our Heavenly Father to the people of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Long ago a few persons had access to the scriptures, at a later stage more persons got access to bibles and read the word. Today even atheists can shop and purchase bibles, having the word before their eyes and in their hands – could anyone hinder the fulfillment of the Heavenly Father’s word? Over ten years ago during 2005 I was sent … Continue reading

Industrial Action against GIDC

Workers at the state-owned Grenada Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) are now engaged in industrial action through the wearing of red arm bands on the job. The Public Workers Union (PWU) has ordered the workers into action over issues relating to salary increases for its members. The union believes it has been disrespected by GIDC with an offer of 0% and 2.2% which goes way under what was proposed by PWU. The union was originally seeking 7% for 2015, 7% for 2016, 7% for 2017 and 2018 but is now asking for a flat 6% for these years. PWU President Rachael … Continue reading

How much for a “good life?”

We all want the good life. The truth is that many of us dream of a world where we can have everything we need and afford anything we want. Everywhere we look we see that car we should have, the Cell phone we must buy and that new pair of shoes that is perfect for us. The various types of media help shape our valuation of necessity and create a culture of consumerism as an expression of this “good life.” At what cost though? What is the price of having everything you want in the world? A study published by … Continue reading
