Courts Fashionista 2016

Bringing Furniture alive through Fashion.

courtsThe ever popular Courts Fashionista Competition was held on Friday 26th August 2016, for the third time.

Given the proposition of positive enhancement as a priority, the company embarked on an initiative that promotes artistry, talent and creative expression through the ‘Fashionista’ Competition which started in 2014.

The concept of the event is a byproduct of the company’s current Fashionable Furniture Campaign.

Aspiring designers were asked to create a piece of clothing inspired by a furniture item selected from the furniture range available at any Courts Store or in the current furniture brochure.

dressOn Friday last, seventeen (17) designers stepped up to the challenge and presented spectacular creations, which were critiqued by a panel of three well accredited judges Kirk Seetahal, Lexan Fletcher and Michele Fraser in the industry.

At the culmination of the competition, Franc Roberts was named winner of the third edition of Courts Fashionista Competition, walking away with $2,500.




1st Runner up Jamal Alexis, walked away with $1000 and 2nd Runner up Sheldon Alexis, walked away with $500.

All participants were awarded certificates of participation as well as tokens of appreciation.

This year a new element was added – People Choice Award, which the audience decided was picked up by designer Marcia Noel with her piece, entitled ‘The Royal Experience’. She was awarded one sewing machine.

The other competitors were Hadasha Buckmire, Priscilla Benjamin, Alina Lett, Franc Roberts, Allisa Mc Burnie, Natalie Stewart, Marcia Noel, Jamal Alexis, Renica Cobb Bartlett, Aria Buckmire, Dinisha John, Jeanette Charles, Sheldon Alexis, Rhonda Jones Charles, Kivaran Greenidge, Nikeishe Bruno, and Nickayla Lalge.
