This weekend, Grenada would be the host country for the Male Group A Qualifiers of the Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) Volleyball Men’s World Championship from August 19-22 at the La Borie indoor facility from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. daily.
Three teams from St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Bermuda and St. Kitts & Nevis are expected to join Grenada’s national Senior Male Volleyball team to compete for a spot to the next round of qualifiers and ultimately the Volleyball World Championship.
According to Coach Raphael Braithwaite, Grenada’s 12-member team comprises youthful and experienced players, who have been under intense training for the past three months and are ready to represent their country and exhibit to the home crowd their skills.
Over seventy visitors are expected on island including players, referees and supporters for the indoor volleyball competition that stated off in 1990.
The players selected to represent the national team are Isaac Nelson, Jamie Noel, Jerron Phillip, Akim Andrews, Shervon Gludd, Jonathan Sargeant, Jonell Phillip, Nikel John, Darron Oxford, Kevon Noel, Dwayne Walcott and Antonio John.
