Co-op Bank names Olympic Campaign winner

Dorothy Jacintha Alexander of Corinth in St. David will be travelling to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for two weeks with someone of her choice as she has been named as the winner of the Olympic campaign run by Grenada Co-operative Bank Limited (GCBL).

The campaign which ran from January to June provided persons with an opportunity to get the bank to assist them with meeting their needs of owning vehicles, new appliances, to facilitate renovation and take a vacation.

Alexander who is a Janitor by profession was the lucky person drawn as the winner of the campaign.

In a handing over ceremony held at the bank last week, Alexander received her winnings: an all expense paid trip to Rio to attend the Olympics to witness the Grenadian athletes including 400m gold medalists Kirani James in action.

The trip covers airline fare, accommodation, and transportation and stadium tickets to games which were made possible by the Grenada Olympic Committee.




In receiving her prize, Alexander expressed special thanks to Co-op bank.

“I want to say thank you to Co-operative Bank for giving me the opportunity to go to the Olympics. It will be my first time travelling and I am really excited to see Kirani run,” she said.

Managing Director of the bank, Richard Duncan who attended the handing over ceremony stated that the bank’s customer centric programme remains at the heart and delivery of service and product.

This, he said, is important because the bank is concerned about how you make customers feel.

“We believe that customers who are very satisfied and have a great experience at the bank, they will do two things; they would first of all gladly give us more of their business and secondly they would enthusiastically refer others to the bank and that is the reason why we treat them the way we do”, he said.

“…The Rio Campaign as designed by the bank had certain things in mind. First of all encouraging people to do more business with the bank and therefore get an opportunity to go to Rio but at the same time we assisted people in making some of the goals and objectives that are set for themselves through affordable, cost effective financing and therefore those who took part in that programme and the persons who have won will become proud ambassadors of Co-op bank,” he added.

Alexander is scheduled to leave the island for Rio shortly after the end of Spicemas.
