After a very competitive live grand finale of NAWASA’s Water Warz, St. Joseph’s Convent St. George’s retained their title and is the winner of NAWASA’s Water Warz Season 2.

At 2:00 p.m, Host Linda Braveboy’s voice echoed through the hushed audience… “Welcome to the Live Grand Finale of NAWASA’s Water Warz”.

Four students stood ready, hands over buzzers in an effort to bring glory to their school – Eryn Williams – SJC St. George’s, Shirlan Pierre – SAASS, Kamica Donald from the Anglican High School and Betty Ann Emmons, the Hillsborough Secondary School.

It was a tight race from the very start. At the end of the second round of competition, SJC St. George’s amassed $275.00, Hillsborough Secondary – $375,  Anglican High School and the St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School $450.00 each.

The third and final round of competition had a question value of $200.00. Only the St. Joseph’s Convent St. George’s was able to provide a correct response which gave them a $25.00 dollar edge over SAASS and the Anglican High School.

A tie- breaker question answered by the Anglican High School gave them ownership of the second place trophy.

The final sums – SJC St. George’s $475. 00, Anglican High $450.00, SAASS $450.00 and the Hillsborough Secondary $375.00. SJC St. George’s walked away with total competition earnings of $3017.00 dollars, SAASS – $2406.00, Anglican High School- $1748.00 and Hillsborough Secondary $1615.00. These earnings reflect the sums from all participating games.

Fourteen schools took part in this unique quiz competition to Grenada, fashioned after the popular game show Jeopardy – GBSS, Beacon High, St. Rose Modern Secondary, JW Fletcher Catholic, Grenada Christian Academy, Hillsborough Secondary, Wesley College, SAASS, Mc Donald College, St. David’s Catholic Secondary School, Anglican High, Presentation Brothers College, St. Joseph’s Convent St. Andrew and of course Champions – SJC St. George.

Water Warz is one of five activities organised by the NAWASA in observance of World Water Day 2016 which is celebrated under the theme of Water and Jobs.

Water Warz was a collaborative effort of NAWASA and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) as part of the International Water Stewardship Programme (IWASP), funded by the Governments of Germany and the UK, and implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment.
