Nickel Fortune smiles as he’s escorted to the police bus after a court hearing last week

Bail has been granted in the sum of EC$15, 000 with two sureties to Nickel Fortune of Tempe, St. George, who is facing a charge of dangerous harm for an alleged near fatal incident that occurred on August 28 in the vicinity of River Road, St. George.

The accused appeared before Chief Magistrate Tamara Gill at the No. 1 Magistrate’s Court last week Thursday represented by Attorney-at-Law Dr. Francis Alexis QC, and Peter David.

The victim, 19-year-old Johnard Williams from Kafè Beou Hill, Grand Anse, St. George is lucky to be alive having sustained a knife wound that stretches from side to side across the back of his neck.




THE NEW TODAY understands that police only picked up Fortune last week Monday in connection with the incident.

This newspaper understands that it took 12 stitches to close up the wound from on the outside and an undetermined number of stitches on the inside.

Police Prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Godfrey Victor indicated to the court that since the incident Williams has not been able to regain proper movement of his left hand.

Fortune, a first time offender is due back in court on February 1, 2016.
