Police have arrested and charged a River Sallee, St. Patrick’s man with the offense of incest.
Patterson Joseph appeared before Chief Magistrate, Her Honour Tamara Gill on Tuesday at the St. George’s Number One Magistrate’s Court.
Joseph is accused of having sexual intercourse with his ten-year old daughter.
However, a well-informed source told THE NEW TODAY Newspaper the accused man was allegedly engaged in the activity with his daughter since she was six years old.
Magistrate Gill granted Joseph with bail in the sum of $20,000. He is due back in court on June 25.
Incest has become a major problem in the country with several cases now before the Magistrate and high courts.
There are two cases of incest on the Cause List of the May Session of the Criminal Assizes.
