Attempts to ship a quantity of cocaine out of the country were foiled last week Friday by members of the Drug Squad of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF).
An authoritative source told THE NEW TODAY Newspaper that attempts were made to use the General Post Office and DHL services to try and move the illegal drugs out of the country.
The source who spoke on condition that he was not named said that both the Post Office and DHL became suspicious of the packages handed over to them and called in the Drug Squad to investigate their contents.
Two packages containing five hundred grams of cocaine were discovered at the General Post Office in an express mail that was destined for Canada.
The Drug Squad was also able to detect at DHL some135 grams of cocaine hidden in a plaque that was intended for the United Kingdom
The source said the Drug Squad members are still trying to determine the person or persons behind the attempt to smuggle out the illegal drugs out of Grenada.
