Snug Corner resident, Ziggy Jean Lett has been charged with non-capital murder in connection with the death of a man on December 23.
The 28-year old Lett appeared before Chief Magistrate, Her Honour Tamara Gill on ….. but was remanded in custody at the Richmond Hill Prisons in connection with the death of Michael Roberts.
The deceased who had no permanent place of abode was the country’s 15th murder victim for 2012.
Roberts who originally lived at Malti, St. David’s was found lying on the side of the road on December 23 bearing multiple lacerations.
Police Officers attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) were among the first set of respondents on the scene and carried Roberts to the St. George’s General Hospital where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
The 56-year old labourer, had lacerations on his throat, the right side of his forehead, left side of his chest and shoulder, and bruises over his right eye.
A post-mortem that was conducted said that Roberts died as a result of acute cardio-respiratory insufficiency, laceration to the heart and section of the larynx, and stab wound to the neck and the heart.
The murder suspect is due back in court on January 15 for mention, but the
witnesses to be called for the start of the Preliminary into the murder case would be summoned to appear in court on February 5.
