Republic Bank (Grenada) Ltd was the lone financial institution from Grenada to be awarded at the just-ended gala event hosted by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB).
The local bank captured the Good Corporate Citizen Awards for Environmental Awareness and Financial Education and Empowerment.
Two other banks in the sub-regional grouping of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) also received awards.
They are the Bank of Saint Lucia Ltd for its outstanding contribution to the overall development and well-being of the people of Saint Lucia and the National Bank of Dominica Ltd, which received the Good Corporate Citizen Awards for Cultural Development and Customer Service.
The Bank of Saint Lucia Ltd also received Good Corporate Citizen Awards for Educational Development, Community Outreach and Social Services and Sports.
The ECCB initiated the Best Corporate Citizen Award among ECCU Commercial Banks in 1997.
The award recognises commercial banks, which operate within the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) for implementing, participating in and promoting initiatives on-going programmes designed to improve the quality of life of the people they serve.
Good Corporate Citizen Awards are presented to the banks that are adjudged to have executed their corporate social responsibilities to the highest level in the areas of: Educational Development; Community Outreach and Social Services; Environmental Awareness; Sports; Cultural Development; Customer Service; and Financial Education and Empowerment.
The Best Corporate Citizen Award is presented to the bank, which demonstrates outstanding contribution to the social development of the ECCU through human resource development and sustained community outreach.
The awards ceremony was held at the ECCB Headquarters, St Kitts and Nevis, on 7 November, following the presentation of the 17th Sir Arthur Lewis Memorial Lecture.
